The CoachEd Journey Welcomes You

Providing the support you need to grow, lead and navigate your journey with greater ease and confidence

Why does working with a coach have such an impact on professional performance?

The earliest architecture of modern day professional coaching is found in the work of Timothy Gallwey who, in 1974, published work on The Inner Game of Tennis. Whilst focused on the sport of tennis it started to meaningfully unpack that elite performance needed the de-emphasising of the importance of skill instruction (it being assumed that this was already in place), in support of greater power and status being placed on the need to remove the internal barriers that might be interfering with performance.

The reality is that the greatest barrier to success sits within you and it is not the result of other forces. Where other fractious or impeading forces do exist, you are the one that needs to navigate around or through them. The key is to develop an awareness of yourself and what you, internally, are experiencing  to help you over come barriers and challenges The CoachEd Journey purpose is the help you navigate this with greater ease and confidence. .

Good-fit consultation meeting (up to 30mins)

Coaching is not for everyone all the time. Working with a coach is also a very personal experience, so we both have to feel like we can work together to reach your goals. This starts with a free consultation (in person or virtual) where we explore what you are looking to achieve by working together.

Explore

Recommended Duration: 1 months - Contact time: Upto 5 hours

Service Type: One-2-One (virtual/in person)

Relevance: Aspiring and Middle Leaders

We start exploring the IRACE model of improvement and support a lot of time for reflection both in and out of the sessions; always making sure there are 'actionables' from every session to help build and sustain forward momentum. Advice to be considered can come in from time to time, but you have more of the answers than you know. One of the main aims of the Explore programme is to help you develop an awareness of yourself and that which is around you in the wake of what you are trying to achieve; understanding where you are, who you and and where you want to go. It is very likely that during our time together you will quickly start to move through improvement journey.

The Explore programme can we be a key asset to someone leading change or preparing to lead change for others; where criticality will be key in reducing the potential of a misstep that could significantly hinder the change and improvement management process.

Navigate

Recommended Duration: 2 Months - Contact time: Approx 6 hours

Service Type: One-2-One (virtual/in person)

Relevance: Aspiring and Middle Leaders

Following on from the Explore Programme, the conversation turns to acutely supporting the improvement journey itself. Having developed greater levels of awareness, it's time to understand how that which is around you impacts on your responses to it. In particular how you emotionally respond to different challenges and opportunities. In doing so, you are better able to plot a route through this landscape and become more aware of how to respond to an evolving set of stimuli in your professional world. Whether it's finding your way through leading a particular change in your team or organisation or taking action to move forward your own career, the Navigate Programme supports this. This includes the handrail of the IRACE improvement model; this simple scaffold enables you to remain focussed on what you have committed to achieving.

Whilst it is very possible to see change and improvement quickly, when it comes to leading and managing others, setting the direction for a team or your organisation, this more often than not takes time. Part of the momentum we build in changing ourself or improving the performance of our teams comes from the cadence and wisdom that comes from our decision making and behaviours This can be accelerated by building your own confidence and capacity and that of others. You are supported in this through the Accelerate Programme by us having a more dynamic coaching relationship that can respond more regularly  to your needs. This is offered in repose to the critical incidents (new or unusual events that you want to navigate successfully) as well as

About Me

Nick Burge

Committing to supporting others is the golden thread that weaves through the last 19 years of my professional career. Having had the privilege of leading three schools as Headteacher in Scottish Education, in both mainstream secondary and special education, I have seen first hand what can be achieved by others when supported with high quality coaching; I owe important  steps forward in my own journey to great coaching from others.

Over the last 15 years I feel fortunate to have been immersed in a range of different professional and performance environments; from ski instructing in the Scottish Highlands and being the manger of the Scotland women's rugby team, to collaborating with other adult and youth coaches in India. I have also enjoyed supporting aspiring Headteachers on the Masters in Education Leadership course at The University of Edinburgh. More recently I have completed 2 post graduate certificates, from the University of Edinburgh.

Through all of this I found one of many things to be true; we have a lot more answers than we think if we position ourselves correctly. It takes commitment from us to explore our awareness and find those answers. The support of a highly effective coach can be the key to unlocking and accelerating the process.

Why choose The CoachEd Journey

Whether you are leading a team of 1 or 100 there can be very similar challenges and opportunities that leaders and managers experience. As time passes and experience is gained it is also accurate to acknowledge that the complexity of these challenges and opportunities evolve. It has been incredibly fulfilling coaching unprompted colleagues, middle and senior leaders over the past six years.

This is why You can fit The CoachEd Journey into evenings and weekends and can spread out the payment for the service.. Pricing has been created significnalty below executive level to try and make it accessible for leaders or aspiring leaders at all levels within a team or organisation

Time to take the next step

For some, the decision to engage with the coaching process happens quickly; you know the benefits and the decision is now focussed on who to work with. For others, taking your first step into a coached relationship can bring some apprehension or nerves and even scepticism, so takes longer to decide. Both approaches are understandable. .

Let's start the conversation and the rest is up to you.
